Companion App #
To configure and use some of the features of ~.UcClient.~ (Web Edition), the app needs to communicate directly with the operating system. To allow this, you will need to deploy the Companion App.
To deploy the companion app, click on the link icon in the menu:

This will display the connect web apps settings page. Click Download companion application button to download the install file, then follow the browser and installation prompts to install the companion app.
Once the installation is complete, the companion app should automatically start and be visible in the system tray:

Once installed and started, the companion app will sync with the web client and the link icon will change to indicate it is connected:

If the companion app fails to connect the link icon will indicate that it is disconnected:

This can happen for multiple reasons the most likely are
- The companion app isn't running.
- The ports may be blocked.
If the companion app is not displayed in the system tray this would indicate the app is not running, to start the app click on the companion app icon in the left hand menu to start the app. Note - On first start you may be prompted to allow the application to start.
The ports can be configured if required, to do this navigate to the 'Integration' section of the connect web apps settings menu, scroll to the bottom of the page. Enable 'Use custom port range' and enter a valid port range (to configure a single port, enter the same number in both Start and End port boxes). Once the port numbers have been populated, restart the companion app.
If you continue have issues right click on the companion app in the system tray and click view logs, collect the collect and report the issue following your standard support process.
